The Kobe Bryant

Trash talking as brand building — and why it works better than you think.

This should normally be called "The Larry Bird", but do you even know who Larry Bird is?

Exactly!

(And if you said 'yes' and ruined the joke, just click here, get your refund and get AWAY from my document!)

((I'm kidding of course, you know I love you (and your money) xoxo))

Larry Bird was a legendary basketball player.

He was amazing at scoring 3-pointers and looked like a bank clerk.

But other than one of the best 3-point shooters in history...

He was also the greatest trash talker the game has ever seen!

And, believe it or not, that's an extremely valuable skill for both basketball and email marketing.

Of course, in your emails, it's best if you don't just mindlessly trash talk everyone, but if there is a person that is deserving of your spikey tongue, then you can feel free and snap on him.

For example, they might be selling an unethical course or promoting a scam or being an overall P.O.S. individual.

The point is, this is an amazing way to create drama (especially if you trash talk another person in the industry) and build your own brand (I was going to say 'personal' brand but this has become too much of a buzzword for my taste).

Because now you are a) entertaining, b) fighting for the good side and c) actually kind of a badass(?)

The resultYou basically become something like a morally grey character that is for some reason working with the good guys or a vigilante of sorts (and these always end up being the most favorited characters).

So, next time someone deserves a good dose of whoopass, don't hesitate to tell them that their beard is weird (shoutout MGK, man, what the f*ck was that diss 🤣)
